died in 1901 he took care of his mother until her death in 1916. Sometime between then
and the 1920 Federal Census he had moved his family to Gibson, Ohio, except for his
youngest daughter who stayed with her grandparents in St. Florian. In the 1930 Federal
Census he was living with the family of his son, Leo.

Rock Valley, Iowa, and working as a farm laborer. The 1920 Federal Census indicates that he moved
with his family to Gibson, Ohio. The 1930 Federal Census has him living in Garfield, Iowa, lodging
in the home of Emma Splear, with an occupation of farming, so he may have acted as a farmhand for
Emma. Eventually, he married Emma, who was 10 years his senior. He received his SSN in Minnesota,
and died in Shelton, Washington at the age of 97.

widowed and John was her employee and lodger. Her occupation was listed as "farmerette". She
married John in 1936 at the age of 54. She died 8 years later.
