The 1870 Federal Census has his plase of birth as Austria, but he was probably born in Prussia, and
immigrated to the US. The 1860 Federal Census has him living in Ridgefield Township, Ohio. He met
and married Katrina Keller, who was almost 20 years his junior. They were married sometime before
1856. According to the US Census, their first child was born in Ohio. They moved to Wisconsin before
1860 as their next six children were born there. Sometime between 1873 and 1876 they moved to Alabama
as their last two children were born in St. Florian. He died soon thereafter at the age of 63.
Interestingly, four of their children, Marianna, Crescentia, Maria and John, do not appear in the 1880
Federal Census in Alabama, so they may have stayed in Wisconsin.

Born in Prussia, but the 1870 US Federal Census has her from Bavaria. She immigrated to the U.S. in
1854 at the approximate age of 16. Married John Noggler and had seven children before moving to
Alabama. John died when her ninth child was just an infant. Then, on November 7, 1880 she married
Lorence Specker, whose first wife Cecelia and their infant child died in July, 1880. They had a
daughter, Katherina (b. 1883). Lorence died on Nov. 28. 1901 and was buried in St. Michael's Church
Cemetery, one row up from John Noggler. Catherine was 63 at the time. She then moved in with her
son, Anthony, as indicated in the 1910 Federal Census. She died in 1916 of consumption, at the age
of 78.
