in Detroit, arriving in the area in 1854. He opened his merchant taylor establishment in 1857
in the old Biddle house. He later moved his business, August Rasch & Co., to 79 Woodward Ave.
He remained in business until 1890 before retiring. The 1910 Federal Census has him and his
grandson Stuart living with his daughter and son-in-law Caroline [Rasch] and William Allen
in Detroit Ward 5. In 1889 he is listed as a director of the Union National Bank in Detroit. On his passport application from 1891 he states that he was born in Obersdorf, Prussia on
27 August 1835. that he arrived in the US from Bremen on 15 June 1854, that he lived in
Detroit for 37 years, and that he was a naturalized citizen on 27 February 1891. It also
says that he was 5 ft, 4.5 in tall. He was one of the early philanthropists of the city, a contributor to many public enterprises.
He was a prominent member of the Masonic order; was one of the original members of the
Harmonie Society, of which he was president for several years, and an honorary member

It was there that she met her husband Paul, as they volunteered together for a special event.
Susan was ever the entrepreneur. She once owned an ice company and for the past decade she
loved being the owner of Kissinger Promotions, an advertising and promotions business.
Susan loved to live life to the fullest and had a passion for travel. She was fortunate to travel the
world and had many wonderful memories of these trips; including rock climbing and zip lining
in Alaska, snorkeling in the Galapagos and Tahiti to trekking the jungle mountains in Uganda
and Rwanda to see the Mountain Gorillas. After a difficult battle with cancer, she left this earth
and passed to heaven as one of God's angels. So many people reached out to her during her
battle with cancer, and for that she was very thankful and humbled.
